The ice prevented Monk from running along the western coast of Greenland, he consequently steered for Hudson's Strait, and finding the coast of America in lat. 63 deg. 20 min., he took shelter in a harbour, which he called Monks' Winter Harbour (probably the Chesterfield inlet of our maps.) The surrounding country they named New-Denmark.
